Sludge & Solids Processing

Sludge dewatering is the process of solids-liquid separation by which large quantities of water are removed from waste slurry by chemical or mechanical means, with or without heat to form a semi-solid mass or “cake”. Various chemical additives can be used to aid in the dewatering process. These include iron and aluminum salts, other cationic additives such as magnesium and calcium salts, and polymers.

Odor control is often a problem during sludge dewatering operations which can be both a nuisance and a health hazard. ALTIVIA offers a number of proprietary mixed oxidants, such as VX-456, which when added to biosolids immediately control odor causing sulfides and related malodors as well as prevent the biological generation of sulfides.

With over 17 years of experience we offer a full line of technologies including peroxide, nitrates, iron salts, activated carbon, phosphates, specialty permanganates, and proprietary products including chlorine dioxide, vapor phase scrubbers and biofilters and a complete line of cationic, anionic and nonionic liquid and dry polymers under the FIBERFLOC™ brand name to meet your flocculation needs.

ALTIVIA offers a range of sludge and solids processing chemicals and applications experts to meet your treatment needs.
