Recycling is an important step in preserving our environment. Paper recycling is now common practice with specialized plants and processes designed to process waste paper and turn it into new paper products. Major process steps that may be used are screening, cleaning, washing, bleaching, dispersion and drinking. In recycle paper plants that bleach their paper the size of the facility generally does not justify the construction of a conventional large scale pulp bleaching unit. In such cases, the use of a small scale chlorite-based chlorine dioxide generation system can be used.
