Photo Processing

Photo processing requires the use of numerous chemicals including fixer, bleach fixer, developers, stabilizers and rinse water. Photo processing wastes require treatment prior to disposal and may contain silver, a toxic metal, in concentrations between 5-12,000 mg/L depending on the waste origin.

Chemical and biological treatment of photo processing waste can reduce TOC and COD demand. Oxidation with Fenton’s chemistry and or chlorine dioxide is an effective method of treatment. Peroxide has also been found to improve the biodegradation of refractory compounds.
