BOD Reduction

Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) is a measure of the oxygen used by aerobic microorganisms to decompose organic matter such as decaying vegetation, sewage or food waste present in a water supply. Organic material acts as a nutrient for the microorganisms present. The more organic material available the greater the number and growth rate of the microorganisms present in the wastewater and the higher the demand for oxygen resulting in a high BOD level.

BOD levels in wastewater can be reduced by the implementation of a chemical treatment program at the source of the problem.
