ALTIVIA SIGNS
DISTRIBUTION & LICENSE AGREEMENT
WITH
EKA CHEMICALS
|
HOUSTON, Texas, January 3, 2003 --- ALTIVIA Corporation announced that
it has signed an agreement to license and distribute Eka Chemicals', patented
and EPA / NSF registered, Purate® and SVP-Pure® chlorine dioxide
generation systems and products in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
“The addition of Eka Chemicals’ Purate® technology to our product portfolio,
along with our recent acquisition of Vulcan’s Municipal chlorine dioxide
business clearly establishes ALTIVIA as the market leader for ClO2 in the
North American water treatment market,” said ALTIVIA’s, VP-Water Treatment
Services, Glenn Holden. “Eka is the world’s largest producer of ClO2 feed
chemicals and we believe that their Purate® technology complements
ALTIVIA's existing line of sodium chlorite based chlorine dioxide systems.
Purate® technology is especially attractive for water plants with
production capacities above 30 million gallons per day or water plants that
wish to eliminate on-site storage and handling of gaseous chlorine.”
The SVP-Pure® chlorine dioxide generators utilize Purate®, a
proprietary formulation of sodium chlorate and hydrogen peroxide, to
generate chlorine dioxide at rates from 1 pound per hour to over 100
pounds per hour. Chlorine dioxide produced via Purate® is used as a
biocide for water treatment and as a specialty oxidant in applications such
as odor, iron and manganese control.
“We are extremely pleased to add ALTIVIA as one of our licensed distributors
for our Purate® and SVP-Pure® products,” said Dr. Patrick Bryant,
General Manager of Eka Chemicals Purate® business. “This new agreement
with ALTIVIA follows our strategy of partnering with the leading providers of
ClO2 in the water treatment market that can offer customers the
best overall ClO2 solution for any size application. Our Purate®
technology offers a low-cost and efficient path for the generation of chlorine
dioxide that has resulted in many customers taking a serious look at chlorine
dioxide use for the first time.”
